The Vinton Area Dollars for Scholars will be having a Celebrity Dunk Tank on Saturday June 26th from noon to 4:00pm at Riverside Park. For a nominal donation you can try to dunk local favorites like Mark Phippen (detective), Steve Meyer (Garrison Fire Chief), Pat Farley (V/S coach and teacher), Eric Dickinson (Vinton Police), Jeff Petersen (Farmer’s Savings Bank), Kirk Johnson (V/S high school principal), Greg Walston (Benton County Extension), and Randy Forsyth (sheriff) . Can you think of a better way to have fun on a hot Saturday in June? Be sure to join us and take a chance to dunk one of your favorites!
Dollar for Scholars will also selling refillable mugs at the dunk tank booth. For a discounted price you can buy a mug that has unlimited refills at John’s Qwik Stop until August 31, 2010.
All proceeds from the Dunk Tank booth will go toward scholarships for students in the Vinton Area. In 2010 the local chapter of Dollars for Scholars gave six $1,000 scholarships to seniors of the Vinton/Shellsburg school district
The Vinton Area Dollars for Scholars is a locally operated and supported, non-profit , tax-exempt scholarship foundation. Operated by an all-volunteer board of directors, the purpose of Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to higher education by involving and assisting the community to support local students.
