William Martin has written two novels about life in modern Iowa, but don’t look for his books on a web site, or even a Facebook page.

That’s because William, who spent years as a staff member at the Iowa Braille School, prefers the uninterrupted life and thoughts of a life without the Internet. He does not use email or other on-line forms of communication.

William and his family gathered at the Vinton Public Library Thursday evening for a book signing for his two novels. He self-published “Five Seasons” in 2009 and “Wilder” in 2011 through the Brandt Doubleday publishing company of Davenport. William has also recorded audio books for those who are visually-impaired.

“I don’t like to say much about my books,” said William, adding that he does not like to watch movie previews before seeing a film.

He does tell us that “Wilder” is set in a college in Iowa in the 1990s. “Five Seasons” is also set in Iowa during that same era.

William says he spent about one year writing and editing each of his first two novels, and is also working on his third book.

During the book signing, William handed out book marks with contact information. Those who want to learn more or buy a book or audio book can call William at 472-4964 or write to him at 1014 F Avenue, Vinton, IA 52349.
