A beautiful day accented by a beautiful ceremony - approximately fifty veterans and Legion members, Legion Riders, Legion Auxiliary members and others were in attendance at the Blue Star Memorial Dedication on Saturday, May 22 in Atkins, Iowa.

A Schueler Legion Post of Atkins provided the color guard for this ceremony that was lead by American Legion Auxiliary members. The Blue Star Memorial was created to honor those who have served in the armed forces of the United States.

There are Blue Star Memorials throughout the United States, including Blue Star Highways.

Benton County is the first county in the United States to have a memorial in every community.
