Thursday evening begin with the familiar brown hat resting on the floor of the stage in the Tilford Elementary auditorium.

Those with children or grandchildren who have recently been in second grade are familiar with the hat, worn by a boy in the class who acts out the role of Old Dan Tucker in the American folk favorite, which is also titled "Old Dan Tucker."

Taylor Anderson played the role of Dan for the portion of the concert by Mrs. Griffith's students.

Other songs from the "Our World of Music" presentation included: America, There are Many Flags, You'll Sing a Song, Tired Caterpillar, Ise Oluwa, Silver Moon and Father's House.

In addition to singing, the children played instruments and used their hand movements as well as their voices to tell those stories in song.
