Sometime today, April 4, 2012, someone will read on Vinton Today a story. Maybe an obituary of an old friend or classmate. Maybe the news about a concert involving our local high school choir and the Young Artists working with the legendary Iowan, Simon Estes. Maybe they will read about my walk with my granddaughters in the land where I once walked with my grandfather.
When they do, the counter on the Vinton Today administrative page will add one more story to its number, and 2,999,999 will give way to 3,000,000.
We were thrilled in December of 2010 when we realized that in just six months we had 700,000 page views. We celebrated again in March of 2011, when just a few days after our first anniversary, we reached our first million. We passed the two million mark on Oct. 1, 2011.
It took us a year to get one million hits; and just over a year to get two more million.
Again, to everyone who has ever read a story, or shared a story, or supported Vinton Today with advertising or a contribution, all we can say is: Thanks. And help us get to work on our fourth million.
