As part of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's History in Motion, the Military Vehicle Transcontinental Motor Convoy made a stop in Belle Plaine at the local American Legion Post.

The event was held to celebrate the Army's 100th Anniversary of the first motor convoy that crossed the United States.

There were vehicles from as far away as New Jersey, but there were several local drivers as well to meet in Belle Plaine. Many of the vehicles included stickers on the side that indicated where they had traveled in the past. This is a yearly event with the route changed.

Many of the vehicles also honored past military members, usually a family member, and their service to the country.

One of the vehicles was made into living quarters for traveling with the amenities of a modern camper. There were more jeeps than any other kind of vehicle present.

There were several aging veterans in attendance and many who recalled driving vehicles like the ones on display.
