News : Home Show attendance exceeds first-year goal, says organizer Kerkman

Kurt Kerkman said Sunday he was very pleased with the results of the first Home Show he organized in Vinton.

"Our goal was 250 (for the two-day event)," he said. That goal was reached by Saturday afternoon. By noon on Sunday, the total had passed 270; the final count was around 400.

Kerkman said he will talk to vendors who participated in this year's event, to see if they are interested in making the Home Show an annual.

Participants included many businesses who offer products, services or tools used in home improvement efforts. There was also a booth dedicated to Special Olympics, where a raffle and silent auction helped raise money for local athletes.
