The Vinton-Shellsburg High School students who want to dress up in the theme of the day will donate $1 per day each of the four days that school is in session next week in order to raise money for Honor FLights for area veterans.

Honor Flight is a national non-profit organization that raises money to fly World War II veterans (and a caregiver, if necessary) to the National Capital so they can see the memorial dedicated to them. A few area veterans have already visited DC courtesy of the Hpnor Flight campaign.

On Friday afternoon, after honoring Mrs. Steffen as the Iowa VFW Teacher of the Year, VSHS students learned about the Honor Flight fund-raiser at the high school

Next week, students will donate a dollar per day to wear a unique outfit. One day, they wil wear the clothing representing the NCAA basketball team they wanted to see in the Final Four. There will also be a Red, White and Blue Day, Hero Day and Hat Day. Participating students will be asked for a donation each day during their advisor time.

The goal is to raise $1,250 said VSHS Principal Kirk Johnson.
