Dan LaGrange: Grandson of 60-year Kiwanis member Bob becomes Vinton club's President.

As the Kiwanis Club International continues to celebrate its 100th year, the Vinton Kiwanis are joining in the celebration, as well as adding some milestones of their own.

Club members also celebrated local two milestones on Tuesday, as they honored Bob LaGrange for his 60th year in the club. Bob also helped celebrate the induction of the Kiwanis’ new President, his grandson, Dan LaGrange.

"I was very proud to help install  Dan," says Bob. "I have seen lots of things we do for the community.  And yes, I was president in 1958 -- a long time ago."

In addition to their weekly meetings, the Vinton Kiwanis have for decades offered their pancake breakfast on the first Saturday in March, and have organized the Easter Egg Hunt for more than a half-century. For many years, there was both a morning and noon group, but within the last 10 years they combined and now meet each week at noon, at Pizza Ranch.

The Vinton Kiwanis are part of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis district.
