Terry Hertle, the Benton County Supervisor who has been working with County Attorney Dave Thompson and a group of volunteers on the preservation and restoration of the courthouse clock, said he expects the clock to return to its tower "soon."

Hertle has been in touch with the Indiana clocksmith, who said he expects the clock to be ready in the near future.

Area residents and history buffs have been watching for the clock's return for nearly a year.

Fund-raising and grants cover the cost of the project; there is even some money left over for a fund to cover future repairs.

Thompson, Supervisor Don Frese, and a few of members of the clock committee walked up to the bell tower to look at the progress of the painting after Tuesday's meeting of the supervisors.
