News : Red Cross blood drive draws many to First Christian Church

Alyssa Smith was one of dozens of people who gave blood at the First Christian Church Wednesday.

The Red Cross Blood Drive returned to Vinton on Wednesday afternoon. Dozens of donors, nurses and volunteers met at First Christian Church.

Kristie Davis is the new volunteer event organizer. She replaced Earlene McKenna, who led blood drives for many years before her death from cancer a few months ago. Organizers of Wednesday's event were coping to collect 60-70 pints.

The next Red Cross Blood Drive in Vinton will take place in late January at the Vinton Skate Center, said Davis.
