Hello, Iowa House District 84 from the State Capitol!

The second week of the session was very busy and started with Iowa caucuses, which gave Iowa the proud and important opportunity to be the first state in the nation to get up close and personal with potentially our next president of the United States. It is also a unique privilege to show just how great the people of Iowa are, excluding Old Man Winter! The Iowa House members have been very busy with committee meetings and conducting subcommittee meetings on bills that could become law.

State Auditor Rob Sand Releases Report on Statewide Property Tax Levies

State Auditor Rob Sand today released a first-of-its-kind report on statewide property tax levies.  The report indicates individuals and entities in wealthier areas carry a lower property tax burden than those in less economically well-off places in Iowa. "Finally, we have hard data showing that working and middle-class Iowans pay a higher property tax rate than wealthy Iowans - which doesn't seem fair to me.
