Young aspiring actors invited to attend Summer Theatre Camp
"Hey, Look At Me! Theatre Camp Coming to Vinton!*
Director Erin Horst announces a six week theatre camp for young actors in the Vinton area, with the support of ACT I.
The camp will consist of six one-week workshops June 7 through July 30, with a new focus each week, including, musical theatre, direction and movement, costumes, lighting, thinking creatively, and many other topics designed to give budding actors and actresses good foundations for live theatre.

Iowa Pyrotechnic Association To meet May 29-30
The Iowa Pyrotechnic Association will meet again at the Yedlik farm northeast of Vinton during Memorial Day weekend.
The weekend begins with a business meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29. A class on 4-inch canister shell building will follow the business meeting.
There will be a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. that day.
On Sunday afternoon, Scott Dixon, the brother of IPA member Jerry Dixon, will make a presentation on rocketry.

Purpose of the Drainage School
To train stakeholders in sub-surface drainage concepts, planning and laying out drainage systems including surveying a profile, laying out the system, calculating tile line sizes and spacing using actual field data, making connections, and setting up drainage control structures, NRCS & IDDA regulatory considerations, and fixing common drainage system issues.

Area Substance Abuse Council to meet the 13th, Thursday
Don’t forget about our LAST coalition meeting of the year! This Thursday, 12-1 p.m. at the Vinton ISU Extension office (501 1st Ave, Vinton). We’ll be finishing up a few things and setting some plans for next year! After the regular coalition meeting, we will also have a youth summit planning meeting.

3rd Annual Flower Pot Challenge
Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community will be holding their 3rd Annual Contest for the most creative flower pot that showcases area businesses or service organizations.
Just decorate a flower pot, and drop it off at Windsor Manor by Friday May 21st.
Judging will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday May 28th.
Everyone in the community is invited to a community BBQ from 4-6 p.
Post 57 of Vinton to hold Fish Fry
The American Legion of Vinton will host a fish fry on Friday, May 14th serving from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
The Legion is located at 105 N. R Ave. in Vinton.
Adults cost $7.00, children 5-12 $3.00, and under 5 eat FREE!
All you can eat, while supplies last!
Drive on out to the Legion for a delicious fish supper this Friday!
