Kiwanis cancel monthly meetings and Annual Easter Egg Hunt
The Vinton Kiwanis have made the decision to cancel all Kiwanis meetings for the Month of March.The Kiwanis have also made the tough decision to cancel the Easter Egg hunt which was scheduled for April 11.

Wesley Mobile Food Pantry Vinton will not close on Saturday
Food distribution will still happen Saturday morning, 3/21/20 from 10:00 - 11:00 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton. Extra safety precautions will be used and food will be pre-packaged and distributed outside the church. Please share this information with others.
Suicide Awareness Photo Shoot, Sunday March 15
There will be a Suicide Awareness Photo Shoot on Sunday, March 15, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Benton County Fairgrounds, located at 1702 2nd Ave. in Vinton. Calling all middle schoolers and high schoolers who would like to be a part of a photoshoot representing Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Awareness Prevention. Join us to show your love and support to each and every person we encounter by participating in a suicide awareness photo shoot.
Canceled: ECI STEM Festival to be held March 29
The East Central Iowa STEM Festival committee members have chosen to cancel the event scheduled for March 29th from 1:00 – 4:00. With amazing hands-on activities at these events, we feel it is better to proceed with caution as these activities would be prime avenues to spread germs. At this time, we are not rescheduling the event for 2020 but will be holding the event in spring 2021.
Canceled: IES for the Blind and Visually Impaired Conference
The Spring Family Conference will be canceled due to public health concerns related to COVID-19. 3/12/20 ----------We are in the process of notifying families who already registered for this event. Online registration has been blocked and all IESBVI staff, presenters, and conference workers have been notified.At Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (IESBVI), there are athletes who compete in the North Central Association of Schools for the Blind (NCASB).
TLC and Trinity Lutheran Church offering Supper Tonight for a Freewill Donation
TLC and Trinity Lutheran Church will be offering a Supper for a Freewill Donation tonight, March 11 beginning at 5:00 p.m and running until 6:30 p.m.The meal includes, Tomato soup, grilled cheese, tater tot casserole, plus all the salads and desserts that you can eat. The freewill donations will benefit the TLC Preschool. The church is located at 1002 East 13th St.
Iowa's Ride Community Info Night
Vinton is proud to be an overnight stop for Iowa’s Ride this summer. Iowa’s Ride, in its inaugural year, will take cyclists on a 416-mile journey from Dubuque to Rock Rapids. The ride will run from Sunday, July 12 to Saturday, July 18, 2020.Thousands of cyclists will arrive in Vinton on Monday, July 13th and will depart on the morning of July 14th.

Stars over 70 Nominations Sought
The Wallace Winkie Foundation announces nominations now being accepted for Stars Over 70, a celebration of those individuals in the Belle Plaine area who are at least 70 years of age and contributing to their communities through volunteering, working, or serving as role models.Nominations will be accepted through March 17 and can be made by anyone in the Belle Plaine area who would like to say thank you to mentors, volunteers, and people who’ve made their communities better places to live.
