Las Lomitas Mexican Grill plans to reopen in new location
UpdatedLas Lomitas Mexican Grill released a short statement concerning the closing and possible reopening of their business in Vinton. The business had been located in the former Pizza Hut location and had been renting from the property owner. The business is looking at the possibility of relocating to 202 W. 4th St. the same location as the La Reyna restaurant.
Downstream Resto and Repair comes to Vinton
Vinton Unlimited welcomed Downstream Resto and Repair with a ribbon cutting on Saturday. Ervin Motor Company has been your Buick dealer in Vinton since 1930. Buick has "announced they will change the franchise to build 100% electric vehicles by the year 2025". Uncertain of this new direction, the Ervin's dealership has elected to end its franchise with Buick for the first time in 93 years.Ervin Motor Company will continue to carry the GMC franchise, selling and servicing new Sierra 1500, 2500HD, 3500HD, plus the Canyon trucks and the Sports Utility lineup which includes GMC Terrain, Acadia, and Yukon SUVs.
Eastern Communications acquires RACOM
RACOM, the company that won a contract to construct an emergency radio communications service for Benton County, has been sold to Eastern Communications Ltd. In a press release Eastern Communications said, "Eastern Communications Ltd., a leading provider of mission critical communications and services in the Eastern US, announced today the acquisition of Marshalltown, Iowa based RACOM Corporation, a leading emergency communications service and technology provider in the Western US.
Vinton Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Grants Awarded to area Businesses
The Vinton Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Grant program, which receives 75% of the funds generated from the Hotel/Motel tax, has announced the organizations that will receive the 2022 funding. The HOT Grant offers financial support to local organizations for community events, cultural and recreational programming, tourism, and various other projects. Organizations that qualify as 501 non-profit organizations or governmental equivalent 170(c)(1) may submit applications for the grant.
