The wild and wooly WaMaC West girls' basketball race got ever wilder and woolier Monday night.

After dropping two straight league games, Coach Rich Haisman's 3A-No. 13 Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes (16-4 on the year) went into Tiffin and crushed 4A-No. 15 Clear Creek-Amana 60-34, to send the race into a complete flip-flop. Abby Davis led the Vikettes with 14 points, while Alyssa Griffith added 12.

In the West, Benton Community leads in divisional play with a 9-2 mark going into their showdown at Tiffin tomorrow night. The Vikettes are in sole possession of second-place at 8-3, while Center Point-Urbana and the Clippers are both 7-3. If the Bobcats knock off CC-A, then they win the division. But, a Clippers' win and Vikette win at Williamsburg gives V-S a share of the title, which would then up as a three-way tie with the winner of Thursday's game between the Clippers and Stormin' Pointers.

Stay tuned...
