Results from Girls Swim @ LinnMar 9/15/22

The girls swam well - Justyce Dominick, Tori Elwick, and Lauren Moore all won individual events; they also combined with Olivia Schminke to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. Justyce was a solid 20 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher in her 200 Freestyle. Tori continues to cut time literally every time she swims the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke - she's really coming into her own this year.

Williams Court Vinton's new Pickleball Court

Denny and Ann Williams as they prepare to play on the Pickleball court, Williams Court Vinton Parks and Rec Department dedicated the new pickleball courts at the B.L. Anderson Park located across from Tilford Elementary. The new courts are now called the Ann & Denny Williams Courts, in honor of its beneficiaries. Several residents gathered for the official dedication. Matt Boggess of Vinton Parks and Recreation said that the couple has been great supporters of the Pickleball community in Vinton.

VS Girls Swim Results 9/1/22

VS swam in Grinnell last night against some strong competition. The results are attached. 14 of our 20 swims saw improved times, many of them significant time drops and several of them being personal bests. Sara Johnson dropped 2.24 seconds to set her lifetime personal best of 30.69 in her 50 Freestyle - Sarah has been working hard in practices and it's showing in big drops in the pool.

Lil Racer Car Club this Saturday final night of the 2022 season

This Saturday night the Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN for its final night of the 2022 season, during the track’s 5000 to Win Hoker Trucking East Series Late Model Special. Kids, make sure to stop by the clubhouse and get your prize numbers for our prize drawings, your racing flag, juice boxes, freezer pops and coloring pictures and to take home a trophy of your very own! One lucky child will become our final 2022 “Lil Racer of the Week sponsored by The Pizza Place of Center Point”.

Bring the Noise 5K Race Results

The Vinton Kiwanis Bring the Noise 5k brought around 50 runners who took off on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m.  Overall placing in 1st place for the male runners was Alex Torres and overall 1st place for female runners was Kim Schirm.There was also a drawing for four Theisen’s gift cards worth $25 each. Those winners were:Jonah MeyerLexi PrimroseHeather KalousLee BendullProceeds from this race will be donated directly to the Vinton Shellsburg School for their Backpack Program.

Swim Results: August 22 and 25

The team started our season off with a great showing against Williamsburg August 22 at home. VS-CPU won a close team race 84-80 against a team twice their size, winning every event and taking both first and second in a couple key races late in the meet to pull ahead for the final score. The team captains Justyce Dominick, Lauren Moore and Carleigh Wilson certainly pulled their weight Monday night - each winning all of their individual events and helping relays take firsts as well.

Super Late Model special to close out season at Benton County Speedway

One final special event is on the 2022 schedule at Benton County Speedway.And it’s a big one.A visit from the Hoker Trucking SLMR East Series will bring the 2022 season at The Bullring to a close Saturday, September 3.The Late Models headline the rare Saturday evening of racing on the quarter-mile in a $5,000 to win, $500 to start event.Support classes include $500 to win IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company and $300 to win Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.

Lace up your shoes and get training friends! The Bring the Noise 5K is BACK!! What better way to start off Boomfest/Boomtown Weekend than with a run around town!Calling all runners (and walkers)! Come join us for the Annual "Bring the Noise 5K" brought to you by Vinton Noon Kiwanis.We will have a 5K Race & A 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Back in person this year we are lacing up our shoes on Saturday, August 27th.

Cordes, Reynolds, Vanous, Rick sweep championship night honors at Benton County

Troy Cordes earned a record-tying ninth Benton County Speedway track championship with his feature win Sunday night in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. (Photo by Jim Wittke) Season championship racing brought the IMCA weekly racing season to a close Sunday night at Benton County Speedway.Champions were crowned in each of the six divisions and four of the titlists went out in impressive fashion by celebrating in victory lane.Troy Cordes needed to finish within one position of Dallon Murty to secure his career ninth track title at The Bullring in the IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.

Season championships Sunday at Benton County Speedway
