Surrounded by his family, Steven Hendryx, 68, of Mt. Auburn, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home. Per Steve’s wishes, no services will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Steve and his family.

Steve was born April 8, 1957, the son of Gerald and Jeannette (Labracque) Hendryx. He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1975. Steve worked as an electrician and was the owner of Hendryx Electric for 45 years, dedicating his life to his trade and serving his community through his business.

Steve enjoyed fixing up houses, working on airplanes, and spending time with those he loved most. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his skills as a craftsman, and the friendships he built throughout his life.

Steve is survived by his wife, Patty; son, Justin (Beth) Hendryx; two granddaughters: Allissa (Broc) Shaw and Abbye (Ryan Widmann) Hendryx; three sisters: Sylvia Roster, Gail Pfiffner, and Terri Higdon; two brothers: Glenn (Bobbie) Hendryx and Wayne (Terri) Hendryx; and many extended family members and friends, including his Tuesday Night Airplane Crew.

He liked to share a beer and tell a few stories He also went to the Osh Gosh airplane show with my husband. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you Patty and the rest his family.
