Hazel Corrine Lantz, 95, died Friday, November 21, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of Anton Sanderson and Sigrid Jerdee Sanderson. Hazel married William D. Lantz on August 13, 1953, and the couple was blessed with four children.

Hazel loved her grandchildren. Each year she purchased Christmas gifts for each one of them and enjoyed sending them birthday cards. Hazel delighted in attending their sporting events and she was affectionately known as Grandma Duck or Grandma Max. She was an avid gardener who was known for her canned pickles. Afterall, they were the best! Hazel is also remembered for her Christmas cookies and candies, and she always made each grandchild their favorite. She enjoyed Scrabble, UNO and Sequence, and enjoyed traveling and riding roller coasters. Hazel was an avid Hawkeyes, Broncos and Cubs fan, and she kept a notebook of statistics that would absolutely drive William crazy. Her favorite movie was "Pillow Talk" and she literally watched it with every member of the family. Even though her life revolved around her family, she had to draw the line when it was time to watch The Young and The Restless. Nothing got in the way of Y&R!

Hazel is survived by her children, Cheryl (Dave) Thompson of Waterloo, Carole Lefevre of La Porte City, Timothy Lantz of Winter Park, FL, and James Lantz of Waterloo; 4 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Johnson of Cedar Rapids; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband, and siblings Arlene Kanellis, Kenneth Sanderson, Janice Ohm, Allan Sanderson, Carmen Sanderson, and Richard Sanderson.

A wake and visitation will be held to honor Hazel on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo. Private burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society, 1166 W Airline Hwy, Waterloo. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lockefuneralservices.com.
