Duane R. “Dick” Flickinger, 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab.
Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025. Services will be held at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at 1030 AM, followed by interment at Garrison Cemetery, and a luncheon at the Garrison Fire Station.
Dick was born January 11th, 1936, at the home farm in Garrison to Gerald “Jerry” Flickinger and Harriet Wilson. He graduated from Garrison High School. Dick married Carol Stueck Grimm on September 13th, 1969, at Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked as both a farmer and a rural post carrier for 38 years and retired from the postal service in 2000, but continued to farm.
Dick was a member of the Garrison Lions, a member of the Garrison Cemetery Board, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Garrison. He loved his family, playing cards, and going to the grandkids' events.
Dick is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Michael (Marlene) Grimm from Garrison, and daughter, Janet Blin from Garrison; daughter-in-law Vicky Grimm from Garrison; grandchildren Jessica (Tyler) Henkle, Billy (Traci Higgins) Grimm, Jason (Heidi) Grimm, Tracy (Michael) Sieck, Misty (John) Gahring, Michelle (Dustin) Sondag, Shawn Blin, and Patrick Blin; great grandchildren Logan (Matt) Walston, Kristen (Darnell) Murphy, Kaitlyn (Quin Cornell) Halstead, Lucas Birker, Jaden Grimm, Bryson Grimm, Nathan (Hannah McLennan) Clemann, Brayden Clemann, Abbi (Ryan Cassady) Sieck, Kyler Sieck, Brianna Gahring, Jacob Gahring, Rayna Wacha, and Raelynn Sondag; great-great grandchildren Ava Walston, Wesley Walston, Maxton Walston, Milleon Murphy, and Maelani Murphy; brother Maurice (Joyce) Flickinger of Vinton; sister-in-law Bobbi (Willie) Vogt.
He was preceded by his parents, his son Kim Grimm; sister Geraldine Hill; brother Delbert Flickinger; sister-in-law Sally Ludden; and grandson Daniel Grimm.
