Roger Charles Prusha, 84, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away October 26, 2023 at Colonial Manor, Amana IA.

Roger was born March 9, 1939 to Sylvester and Leona (Iezek) Prusha on the family farm in rural Chelsea. He started his childhood in Chelsea, moving with his family around the area before settling in Belle Plaine and graduating from Belle Plaine High School. Through his childhood he became known for his skills in ping pong; becoming the High School ping pong champion.

On July 9, 1960, Roger married his high school sweetheart Janet Formanek at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. He worked for the railroad for a short time before starting his career at Amana Refrigeration, retiring as Quality Control Manager.

Roger was a hard worker, always making sure if there was work to do it would get done. Following retirement Roger raised cattle and cherished his time traveling with Janet. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman, trapping, hunting, fishing, and a very talented turtle catcher. He also liked to hobby in woodworking. Roger enjoyed life with a good sense of humor and laughter. He valued time with family and friends, camping, road trips, grandchildren's activities, and just being together. He knew the importance of family gatherings and looked forward to having everyone home.

He is survived by his sons, Steven (Tina) Prusha of Amana, and Michael (Connie) Prusha of Iowa City; grandchildren, Garett Prusha, Laura (Matthew) Roling, Ashley Prusha, Mikayla Prusha; great-granddaughter, Ella Roling; step-grandchildren, Chuck and Tom Compton; sister, Jeanette (Wayne) Jensen of Guttenberg, Joanie (Wayne) Cassady of Cedar Rapids, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet (2023).

Roger's family thanks Belle Plaine Care Initiatives, Colonial Manor and Essence of Life for their quality care and are grateful for the kindness and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
