Larry was born April 18, 1940, in Iowa City and lived most of his life in Cedar Rapids. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having entered the service after high school, and received an honorable discharge in 1961.

He married Luella June McNeal in 1963, they later divorced. He then married Dee Ann Womachka on September 10, 1983, and they enjoyed forty years together. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids, (now Radiant Church) and served as a work crew leader when the current church was built in 1983-84.

He was employed at Rockwell Collins for thirty-two years and retired in 1995. After that he worked as a tour bus driver for Cedar Valley Travel, limousine driver, in maintenance for a daycare center, and most recently at Sound Concepts.

Larry was an avid animal lover and cared for many cats over the last forty years. One of them, Zorro, who arrived homeless from the 2008 flood, survives him. Larry volunteered for several animal shelters over the years.

Larry was known to be a jokester and liked having fun. He especially enjoyed family dinners and reunions. He and Dee Ann always looked forward to their annual fall trip to Dodgeville and Spring Green, Wisconsin, where they made several friends over the years.

Larry is survived by his wife Dee Ann; siblings, Bud (Ann) of Georgia, Lyle of Texas, and Faith (Tom) Kincheloe of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and JuNean Tracy of Wyoming, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews spread throughout the US. Larry will continue to be in our hearts and memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Esther Scheib of Vinton, stepfather Earl Biram, brother Mike, mother-in-law Esther Womachka; several aunts and uncles, and his beloved cats Cinder, Mitzer, Ebony, Zorr.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and techs at St. Luke's Older Adult Unit (1st Floor West) for their dedicated and compassionate care over the last 2 months, and to the staff and caregivers at Country House. The family appreciates the prayers, kind words, and help given by many good friends, neighbors, and caregivers.
