Sports : VSHS Softball: Vikettes improve to 6-2

Sophomore Brea Burroughs has pitched 10 consecutive shut-out innings and senior pitcher Maddie Cornwell has struck out 27 batters in 29 innings to help lead the Vinton-Shellsburg softball team to a 6-2 record.

Burroughs has held opponents to a .169 batting average and has an ERA of just .32.

This week, the Vikettes split with Williamsburg on Monday, losing and then winning by the same score: 8-0. On Tuesday, they traveled to Iowa Valley and won in four innings, 12-0.
