Two big events over the course of three days will lead area race fans into the July 4 holiday at Independence Motor Speedway. Budweiser Mid-Season Championships and the annual appearance of the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models will highlight action in the coming days. On Saturday, June 30, mid-season champions will be crowned in all five weekly divisions. IMCA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods and Hobby Stocks will run features only to determine the mid-season winners. All features will be lined up straight-up based on season point totals. The IMCA Sport Compacts will join the June 30 program in their second draw/redraw show of the season. Heat events will be run for that division only. If B features are required, transfer positions from those events will be available. New cars will also be permitted to compete on Saturday. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62 and older and $7 for students 12-17. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanied by a paid adult. Pit passes are $25. Gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps scheduled for 6 and racing to follow. On Monday, July 2, the Deery Series will make its 25th appearance at the speedway. In recognition of that milestone, $2,525 will be awarded to the feature winner. SportMods and Hobby Stocks will also compete on July 2 in a draw/redraw show that will award IMCA state, regional and national points. Track points will not be awarded. The SportMods will pay $400-to-win while the Hobby Stock winner will get $300. There is no entry fee for those divisions. Adult grandstand admission is $15 on July 2. Senior and student prices will be $10 and kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanied by a paid adult. Pit passes are $25. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on July 2, with hot laps slated for 6:45 and racing to follow.
