Sports : Rippel leads Vikes to victory in home golf meet

The Vinton-Shellsburg boys golf team won a triangular home meet on Tuesday, defeating IC Regina and Clear Creek-Amana.

"I was really happy with the results considering the weather conditions that we played in," said coach Scott Tandy. "Even with the cold and gusting wind, the guys stayed composed and kept focused. The last time we played in bad conditions at Shellsburg (last year's sectional) we let the weather conditions get into our head and it wasn't pretty."
