Sports : Red Cedar Shooters look forward to 2012 season

The Red Cedar Shooters hope to bring home a 2012 State Trophy.

After their third place finish at the state meet in 2011, the members of the Red Cedar Shooters, the Vinton-Shellsburg high school trap team, are looking forward to the 2012 season.

Coach Brendan Knudtson, who helped organize the team two years ago, has moved on to Postville, where is is now a principal. Team dads Brad Burroughs and Jeff Tilson, with much assistance from Pat Jorgensen of the Iowa DNR, will serve as coaches this year.

So far, 26 people have signed up for this year's team. Those interested in joining are asked to email redcedarcoach@gmail.com this week. The V-S Red Shooters Facebook Page has photos, and other information about the team and the sport.
