Sports : Lyons finishes 35th at State Cross Country meet

Of the eight freshmen or sophomores to finish in the top 50 in the boys State Cross Country meet on Saturday, two of them are from area schools.

Vinton-Shellsburg sophomore Wyatt Lyons finished 35th with a time of 16:42.64. Freshman Josh Yeager of Center Point-Urbana finished 42nd with a time of 16:47.79.

The winner of this year's race was Zach Buchheit of Pella with a time of 15:09.86, which was 23 seconds ahead of the second place runner.
