Sports : Glow Trail 5K Run/Walk fundraiser for V-S School Backpack Program Sept. 20

The 11th Annual Glow Trail 5K Run/Walk will be on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Vinton Shellsburg Tilford Elementary School starting at 8:00 a.m. This event is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Vinton.

Changing the world one child and one community at a time, the Glow Trail 5K run/walk is a fundraiser for the Vinton Shellsburg School Backpack Program. The program, in cooperation with HACAP, will provide nutritious weekend meals to elementary students who qualify for free or reduced meals. It is estimated that there will be approximately 3,500 meals delivered throughout the school year at a cost of $5.00 per meal.

To fulfill this need, all the money must be raised through fundraising events, donations, and grants. We are asking you to help support this very important local need by being a business sponsor of this fundraising event.

This year we are inviting businesses to make donations of $125 for a Business Logo on Day of Race Signage. We will also display sponsor signs at the Glow Trail race site on the day of the race on 13th Street in front of the V/S Tilford Elementary School. Deadline for printed material is, Friday, September 12. Please include the name to be included on the signage.

Donations can be made in the form of cash and/or gift certificates valued in $25 increments. The gift certificates will be used to provide prizes with the remainder going directly to area youth programs.

All sponsors will receive recognition advertising in the Cedar Valley Times, Vinton Livewire and Vinton Today plus being recognized on the Kiwanis Facebook page.
