Sports : Freshman Rippel leads V-S golfers at 3A Sectional Tournament

Freshman Dylan Rippel led the Vinton-Shellsburg golfers with a score of 84 over 18 holes in the Class 3A Sectional golf meet at the Wildcat Country Club in Shellsburg today.

The Vikings finished seventh in the 8-team field, with a team score of 360. Anamosa won the tournament with a score of 319; Oelwein was second at 321. Union placed fifth with a score of 354 and Center Point-Urbana placed sixth with 358.

Other Viking scorers included Jake Dyson, 93; Seth Inman, 95; Alex Jessen, 93; Daniel Ervin, 90; and Trevor Brown, 98.
