Sole Sisters Mission Statement:
I am a confident, positive role model, who makes healthy decisions for myself which makes me feel empowered!
Sole Sisters, a group of 5th grade girls that meets weekly at the middle school to help the girls transition from elementary to middle school will be holding their Sole Sisters Run, the final run for the fall of 2019.
"Throughout the year, the group participates in engaging activities that revolve around self-esteem, teamwork, how to handle difficult challenges, peer pressure and taking care of ourselves on the outside and inside" said Sarah Mathis one of the coaches.
The sessions last from 3:30 to 5 and begin with a healthy snack that Molly Noren helps provide, followed by an activity and learning about different ways to exercise to keep their bodies healthy.
The goal of the group is to expose the girls to many types of exercise and to learn how to treat themselves through positive self-talk and good decision making.
The group has had guest speakers to encourage the girls. "There have also been many people in all of our buildings at the VS school district that help in many different ways to make Sole Sisters possible" said Mathis.
At the end of the 9-10 week fall season, the Sole Sisters do the Sole Sister Run, a fun run/walk to celebrate tje hard work throughout the season.  The girls are rewarded medals that are donated from Ashley Hesson and Vinton Trophy.
In the spring, there will be a mini 5 week session.
The final fall 2019 season Sole Sisters run will be held on Sunday, November 24th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the south side of the courthouse.
Coaches for the group each week include: Lindsey Otto, Sarah Mathis, Kim Newton, Heather Kalous, Kari Russler and Sheri Miller.
