Vinton Shellburg girls volleyball fight alongside Carly Teaching Cancer a Lesson at fundraiser

It was a tough night on the court for the home team Thursday as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Benton Community in WaMac Conference action at the Garrison Fieldhouse.

The Bobcats took home a 17-25, 19-25 and 25-27 sweep to open the conference race 1-0 and drop Coach Michelle Stepanek’s Vikettes in the other direction at 0-1. The loss saw the Vikettes play each of the first two sets close before Benton pulled away for the wins. In the final set, the Vikettes actually lead 15-6 at one point before the Bobcats stormed back, finally winning a marathon.

Josie Sage had a solid night with six kills, 13 assists, 14 digs and a perfect 17 for 17 night from the serving line with an ace.
