The Viking swim team appears to be peaking at the right time. On Saturday in Grinnell the young Viking squad turned in its best overall performance of the year in claiming sixth place at the North Central Swim Conference Meet in Grinnell.

Hitting the pool for the first time since the season-ending injury to freshman standout Isaac Lindauer, the Vikings stepped up their performances across the line-up. The 13 swimmers competed in a total of 46 different events with 38 of the 46 swims resulting in new personal records – several with considerable time drops. Five swimmers were a perfect four out of four in best times – Juniors Alex Dick and Ryan Levis, Sophomores Dylan Geater and Lewis Williams and Freshman Donny Sass. Two others, Junior Luke Osborn and freshman Ryan Fowler, had best times in three out of three events.

The 200 free relay team of Levis, Dick, Ben Eden and Kruckenberg made the podium with a 6th place finish (photo attached). Each swimmer hit a new PR in improving the team’s best time of the year by 4.1 seconds even without the injured Lindauer who was a part of that relay’s previous best mark. The 400 Free Relay team of Levis, Dick, Geater and Kruckenberg also took 6 seconds off the previous best mark for the year – which also was set with Lindauer swimming.

The top individual performance was a 7th by Ryan Levis in the 100 Breast where he dropped nearly 4 seconds. Alex Dick shaved 6 seconds in placing 9th in the 100 Back.

Senior, Caleb Kruckenberg, was named Academic All Conference.
