Members of the Vinton Aquatic Club did well at the Cedar Rapids Aquatic Association Winter Invitational swim meet on Jan. 2-3, at Coe College.

The VAC members won five first place medals in relay events, and more than 25 individual first-place medals during the competition.

Seven-year-old Zoey Bresson scored 90 points to take second place in the 7-8 year-old girls division. Chloe Mossman was third, with 67 points.

"Zoey started VAC at the age of 4 without ever having had a swim lesson," says her mom, Brandi. "She started competing at about age 5 and a half. Now at the age of 7 and a half she is winning 3rd and 2nd (her last 2 meets) place high points for girls age 8 and under."

Several VAC members have recorded state-qualifying times in a variety of events.

Others who did well in the individual scoring included: Isaac Allsup, 120 points; Andrew Allsup, 75 points; Carolan Hudson, 89 points; Cyrus Elwick, 106 points; Broden Ferrell, 89 points; Maci Goodell, 95 points; Alexandra Hall, 110 points; Emily Levis, 96.5 points; Nick Halley, 59 points; Lauren Moore, 72 points; Elizabeth Moore, 71 points; Ryan Moore, 98 points; Elyah Steffen, 81 points; Mara Spalding, 60 points; Ian Steffen, 103 points; Jayden Steffen 65 points; Geordyn Webster, 104 points; Careigh Wilson, 64 points; Jillian Worthen, 82 points.
