For 25 years, Diane Hesson kept score and statistics at home Vinton-Shellsburg basketball games, an estimated 700+ contests with more than 14,000 individual statistic lists.

Diane retired from that job at the end of last season, and on Tuesday evening, the VS community honored her for all those years of documenting shots taken and missed, fouls and points scored.

Diane was named “Queen of the Court,” and received an award from her former coach, Harold Shepherd, and Superintendent Mary Jo Hainstock.

Viking and Vikette varsity players escorted Diane to center court, where she was given a chair of honor, a crown and scepter and a loud round of applause from the fans.
