Sports : Leonard earns two 3rd-place awards at All-Star track meet

Payton Leonard ran the 400M, the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays at the Senior All-Star Spotlight.

Vinton-Shellsburg senior track team member Payton Leonard earned two third-place honors at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches All-Star Spotlight Meet at the University of Dubuque on Saturday, June 13.

Competing against runners from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, Leonard finished third in the 400M run. Her 4 x 400 relay team also finished third.

Vikette Coach Heather Kalous nominated Leonard for the event; she is the first Vikette athlete to compete there.

In the 4 x 400, Leonard's teammates were Emma Cochrane of Mount Vernon, Clare Carroll of Davenport Assumption and Asia Kloewer of Harlan.
