Sports : Big Men on Campus: Viking linemen win high school competition at ISU

Viking linemen celebrate their win in the Big Men contest at the ISU Football Camp.

Congratulations to the Vinton-Shellsburg Viking football linemen, who narrowly won first place at the Iowa State University Football Camp's Big Man Challenge.

Blake Patterson, Tanner Bird, Tanner Holten, Jacob O'Brien, Grant Noren, Drew Wiley, Logan Murray, Ethan Henry, and Cole Overton went to Iowa State University to compete in the Big Man Challenge. There were 24 teams from across Iowa and Minnesota competing in numerous events such as medicine ball throw, weighted relay, tractor tire flips, bench press and the last event, tug of war. The Vikings were near the top of the standings throughout most of the competition but sat second moving into the the final matchup against Prior Lake, Minnesota, in the tug of war with the winner taking home the team title.
