Sports : VS 7th graders win at Little Vikette; 8th graders finish in second

The Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School girls track teams hosted the annual Vikette Invitational on Tuesday. The seventh grade girls won first place; the eighth graders finished in second.

Winners for the 7th graders included: Lauren Upmeyer, high jump; the 4 x 100 relay team; the shuttle hurdle relay team; and the 800 sprint medley team.

Eighth grade VS winners included:

* Grace Horst, 800 M and 1500M. Last week, Grace broke the school record set three years ago by her sister, Lily, in the 1500.

* Sarah Schminke, 200M, 400M and long jump. Sarah set a school record in the 200M last week, as well.
