Sports : Wood, Bunge take 2nd in district individual bowling event

On Saturday, Feb. 14, eight of the Vinton Shellsburg Varsity Bowlers competed in an Individual District Tournament. Cole Garwood (644) and Alyssa Bunge (584) were the top qualifiers overall. They were joined in the match play tournament by Ben Wood (581) and Taylor Berry (490) During match play, the competition was fierce and the bowlers fought their way through. Taylor and Cole Finished 5th, Alyssa and Ben both finished 2nd.

I am proud to be there with all of my bowlers during their experiences. They have really grown this year and will continue to do so. We do have an addition to VS Bowling. I am excited to say that Mark Bunge will be assisting me the rest of the season and hopefully next year as well. He has already been a great asset to the team and has a great deal of knowledge to share. I am excited to build our tradition together.

On Tuesday, we compete in our substate tournament in Manchester. We have a high mountain to climb but I feel these kids can really push through and compete at the State Competition.
