Despite the delay of the racing season by the late spring, and the cancellation of Sunday's "Frostbuster" event in Vinton due to rain, local dirt race track veteran Scott Hogan already has made two trips to Victory Lane.

Hogan won Friday at the Lee County Speedway, then led from the green flag to the checkered flag in the 23-car Modified feature at Speedway 34 in Burlington on Saturday evening. He and his new car managed to maintain the lead throughout despite three caution flags.

The win gained Hogan the $1,000 top prize and also qualified him for the IMCA All-Star Ballot.

"The car was great," said Hogan's wife, Jolyne.

Lee County win Friday

After starting at the tail of his Modified qualifying heat, Hogan earned a place in the feature race in Donnellson on Friday night. Then despite starting in the fourth row of that event, Hogan took the lead roughly halfway through the race, and held on for the victory.

"Scott always says he prefers starting deeper in the field rather than on the front row," says his wife.
