The Vinton-Shellsburg ninth grade football team has one final chance to ring the victory bell this Tuesday, when they host Crestwood in a home game.

The freshmen won at Williamsburg before the varsity game; the varsity lost, 43-0.

Freshmen Coach Tony Stenberg shared this summary of Friday's win:

We won the game 46-30 with the offenses on both teams putting up a lot of yards. We had 385 yards rushing and 45 yards through the air. Tanner Davis and Wes Edwards led the attack offensively with each rushing for over 100 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Williamsburg had a very nice quarterback who gave our defense trouble throughout the game. David Bray had a nice game at defensive end for us as he was able to make several plays and keep the quarterback from breaking contain on that side of the field.

We knew coming in that Williamsburg was undefeated and would be a very good team. The guys worked hard all week and it was good to see that hard work pay off on Friday. The guys have been playing hard all year and are looking to finish off the season on a good note this Tuesday vs Crestwood, Cresco. The Viking varsity and sophomore teams will end the season at Crestwood-Cresco on Friday.
