The Vinton-Shellsburg cross country runners faced a larger field than usual at the 18-team meet at North Linn on Saturday, but the individual outcome in the girl's event was the same: Vikette sophomore Lily Horst finished first.
Horst was first among 136 varsity runners, with a time of 14:36, 12 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The Vikette girls were fifth in team points. The varsity boys, led by Derek Dinderman (20th place) were sixth. The JV boys, with Jake Isbell leading the way, finished first. The JV girls, led by Sara Jorgensen, were 8th.
