A strong defense that recorded two interceptions helped the Vinton-Shellsburg freshman football team to its second straight win under first-year coach Tony Stenberg.

Vikings Tyler Bartz and Lane Rowe each intercepted a pass and the Edwards twins (Wesand Will) combined for 185 yards rushing and four touchdowns (along with several tackles on defense).

Stenberg cited several highlights from Friday's game, played at South Tama before the varsity contest:

We had 310 total yards of Offense.

25 Passing Yards (Quarterback was Tyler Bartz) Jared Thompson had one reception for 10 yards and Will Edwards had one reception for 15 yards. We had 285 rushing yards Wes Edwards- 105 yards - 2 touchdowns Will Edwards- 85 yards- 2 touchdowns Tanner Davis- 65 yards- 1 touchdown
