Bullring back in action for Late Model Super Sunday
After racing action was weathered out this past Sunday, the Bullring at Benton County Speedway will return for its second night of weekly points racing May 2.Joining the five weekly IMCA divisions, Late Models will make their first of three scheduled appearances this season. Running SLMR rules, the division will compete for a $1,500 winner’s share Sunday night.
Vikettes fall to Marion, 4-3

Senior Lucy Howes-Vonstein scored two goals in the game and the third one was a weird ricochet off the pipe, goalkeeper and into the net. The difference of the game was Indian defense bottling up sophomore Abby Davis, who is the Vikettes' leading goal scorer with nine. Lil’ Racers Car Club kicks off their Second Year at the Speedway
It all started with a trip to the races for Mitch Swinton. In 2005, he took his then-6-year-old-son Ross to the track in West Liberty and quickly realized there wasn’t much for kids to do. That’s when he decided to start the Lil’ Racer Car Club which is beginning its second season at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton. Lapan-Islas's record day sends 5th-ranted Vikings past MV, 11-3

Senior David Lapan-Islas scored five goals in the contest, giving him the program's single-game scoring record. The Vikings increased their goal differential to 50-3 with the win. The Vikings moved to 6-0 on the season and saw their 45-0 goal streak just before halftime, as the Mustangs scored a penalty kick in the 36th minute. VINTON - Vinton-Shellburg girls' basketball senior Aza Swayzer made it official Wednesday, signing her letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. The 5-11 Swayzer was a big part of the Vikettes' WaMaC West title run this past season after missing much of her junior year due to a torn ACL.
