Vinton Parks & Recreation Department hosting trip to see Chicago Cubs

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is once again hosting a chartered bus trip to catch a summer Chicago Cubs game at the historical Wrigley Field in Chicago. The beloved Cubbies will be taking on the San Francisco Giants in an afternoon game on Thursday, June 30th. The chartered trip package is just $75 and includes your ticket to the game, bus transportation, and driver gratuity.

Area Youth take part in Annual Hershey Track Meet

    Area Youth take part in Annual Hershey Track Meet  Over 180 area youth ranging in ages from 5 to 14 years old participated in the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department sponsored Hershey Track Meet on Tuesday, May 17th at the Karr Athletic Complex. A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers that generously donanted their time to help make this event a success! All youth that participated received a certificate.

Brandon Banks among winners at Benton County Speedway May 22

Vikettes 4 x 100 places fifth at State Track; boys barely miss medal in 4 x 200

In the rain: Erika Hammar passes the baton to Shelby Beyer, who anchored the 4 x 100 team.       The Vinton-Shellsburg girls 4 x 100 relay team finished in fifth place Saturday in the 3A finals at the State Track Meet.      The team consisting of Ashley Boyer, Cheyenne Barnes, Erika Hammar and Shelby Beyer turned in the fourth-fastest 3A qualifying time on Friday, finishing in 50.86 seconds. Vinton-Shellsburg Trap Team has Record Setting Day on Way to 1st Place Finish

First place: L to R Curtis Geiger, Bryce Burroughs, Dalton Lebeda, Wyatt Lebeda, Drake Tilson      The Vinton-Shellsburg Trap team is peaking at just the right time as they prepare for the Iowa High School State Trap Meet June 4th in Cedar Falls.  Saturday they participated in two meets.  Xavier held a shoot in the morning where V-S Black squad shot a team high of 220/250 targets with Bryce Burroughs leading the team with his 3rd perfect 25/25 and a score of 49/50, placing him in the top 5 individuals for the day.

Another VSHS Record: Boys track team qualifies 12 events for State

Vikette golf season ends at Districts; Mahood sets personal best of 46

     The Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team finished its season with a fourth-place showing at the District meet at Waverly on Monday. Several players achieved personal milestones during the tournament. Freshman Rippel leads V-S golfers at 3A Sectional Tournament

     Freshman Dylan Rippel led the Vinton-Shellsburg golfers with a score of 84 over 18 holes in the Class 3A Sectional golf meet at the Wildcat Country Club in Shellsburg today.     The Vikings finished seventh in the 8-team field, with a team score of 360. Anamosa won the tournament with a score of 319; Oelwein was second at 321.
