Facebook memories are a fun thing usually. For example, did you know that 4 years ago we had a tornado hit Vinton? I wrote an article about hearing the sirens and not worrying until the siren sounded for the third time. I got a scolding from my former boss and then EMA director telling me that he was serious the FIRST time he sounded the siren - not the third time! I noted that fact and now have a plan for the first time they go off...
Also, in my memories was a memory about Donkey Basketball from 2015, now that is the type of sport I'd watch!
In 2022 I noted that my friend in AZ wanted to make sure we were all okay, and I had a request to check on Babyland after seeing the damage photos, so I went and checked it out.
2017 was the year that one of my daughters was just a month away from becoming an official midwife...and I joked that, "She doesn't guarantee a "Freaky Fast Delivery" but she'd be a great one to have around if you need her! Since then I got to see her be on the Vinton City Council and this year, she's upped her game again by running for Benton County Supervisor, and I'm having a ball just watching her in this quest.
I suppose the craziest memory I will have from this week is that Facebook contacted me and let me know that the Vinton Today page has crossed the 8,900 followers mark. That means I have to up my security for the page. So an hour later, and after creating more stinking things I will have to do to verify that, "Yes it's ME..." it sunk in.
More than 8,900? That's like 17,800 eyes/ears paying attention. That's just crazy! I can't even picture that many people! Of course, that also means again more security on the Vinton Today Facebook page and I'm not getting younger. I think I fought for an hour just to figure out how to upload pictures from the Easter Egg hunt! I mean, I do appreciate the security aspect in this crazy online world I suppose.
The numbers on Facebook has been steadily climbing this last month, and I'm guessing a new pocket of readers have found Vinton Today. So welcome to the new readers, and as always, feel free to drop me a note if you have a bit of news that you'd like me to share!
Thank you once again to all of the faithful advertisers who have kept this little "blog" (for you DT) going. You've all been great to work with and the readers definitely appreciate your making this site available.
