On Saturday, Governor Ron DeSantis one of the many Republican presidential candidates, made his way to the metropolis of Vinton for a meet-and-greet type stop. Arriving in the campaign bus, escorted by the State Patrol, they arrived half an hour behind schedule, but with good reason. They spotted the home of Peg Kelley on the route and had to stop to thank her for her support. See story here.

The candidate, his wife Casey and their three young children, Madison, Mason and Mamie made their way to the Vinton Family Restaurant. As expected, the children were antsy and happy to be off the bus. They made it known that they wanted some fries, and they definitely picked a great place to have some of those!

The couple split up visiting with residents on each side of the restaurant and then worked their way crisscrossing to talk to everyone. As of Saturday, the couple has covered about 1/3 of the state on their way through "The Grassley," which is the task that politicians take on when they get to Iowa, visiting all 99 counties.

I have to admit, whether he wins or loses, it was fun to see the kids. I know, I should care about the candidate and his wife. But let's face it. I can find out all I want to know about the candidates online. It seems like youth is something we don't see a lot of in presidential campaigns as of late, so the DeSantis family was just refreshing to see as part of a campaign stop.

And when you can get a few chuckles out of just watching the kids, that's fun too!

What a sad day for America and all of us in either case!!!
GB August 14, 2023, 7:03 pm If that choice is between Biden and Trump, it shouldn't be a difficult choice to make.
