Editor's note: As I started my story about the DeSantis visit on Saturday, this note from Peggy came in. This kind of topped saying, "Ron DeSantis was here...so from her front row seat...
By Peggy Kelley
It has been way over an hour since the biggest surprise in my life happened. Thank Heavens I could hear my south porch doorbell over the vacuum!
Two people in their mid-20s asked me if I was a Ron DeSantis supporter. [Obviously, my yard and garage answer that question.] The young man asked if I would like to meet him. I said, YES!! The gal said he was going to be at the Vinton Family restaurant shortly. Then the young man said he was going to see if the bus would stop here first. Off they went.
The next thing I knew, they were escorting me to the parking in front of my house. His bus stopped right in front of my house, and people started coming out. Finally, Mrs. DeSantis came out and shook my hand and said, "Nice to meet you." Then Ron DeSantis ascended the stairs, shook my hand, and said, Nice to meet you, Peggy. Thank you for supporting me!"
The people with the cameras wanted pictures, so they had us stand behind his signs. As I stood between him and his wife, I thought, No way is this happening to little ol' me here in Vinton, Iowa. Then he asked one of his workers to bring out a hat, and he autographed it. When we walked back to the huge bus, I thought my legs were either rubber or melting plastic. Before he got back on the bus, I said it was an honor to meet him. He waved and said before the door closed, "I will make you proud!"
The man has a presence about him. I could see him behind the White House podium taking the oath of office. His voice pulls you into what he is saying. Am I still a big Ron DeSantis supporter? Stronger and bigger than ever!! This experience was unbelievable!! What a memory for the last years of my life here on earth!!Not an ordinary Saturday for me.

To Peggy,
I'm so glad that you had the chance to meet your rock star. It's not every day that a bus pulls up to greet you!
I've seen the effects of his policies upon the people here and feel the exact opposite from you. I sincerely hope you're open minded enough to do some fact checking about him before voting.
AND...
1. He's NOT senile.
2. He's NOT facing a wardrobe change to a black
and white striped or orange jumpsuit.
