Dear Friends and Readers,

The election is over and the work has begun. The transition from one elected official to another isalways challenging and it's impossible to measure the stress of those individuals working in the office. I am pleased to share that I have had discussions with Dave Thompson and they have all been positive and directed to create the smoothest transition possible.

As I look back at the last six months, there is no doubt that there exists a distinct divide in our community, politically and philosophically. It is my hope that through my work over the next four years I can bring people together. When we can all work together, we get better results. Over the last three days, I have reflected on the amazing support I received during the campaign. Thank you to each and everyone who supported me.

Over the next four years, I want to bring safety and security to our communities. When we do that, everybody wins. Over the next few months, I will have to make some hard decisions, some of which may not be popular. Those decisions won't be what's best for me, but what's best for everyone. Please keep in mind thatthese next couple of months will be demanding for me, so, if I don't return your call right away, be patient, I will.

One of my goals is to make the office of the county attorney as transparent and responsive to victims as I possibly can. I want people in this community to know I care about them. At the same time, we have to remove those people who present a danger to society, or simply can't, or won't, follow the rules of society. With hard work and a great team, I can accomplish these goals.

Finally, I can't tell you enough just how humbled and appreciative of your support I am. Now, it's timeto go to work.

Ray Lough
