Letter to the Editor: Mike Pence is NOT a Traitor

Dear Editor,

Mike Pence is NOT a Traitor!!

Fact Check: Mike Pence did NOT have the power to overturn the 2020 election results and keep Donald Trump in office! The 12th Amendment of the Constitution says the vice president; as president of the Senate, is to open envelopes containing Electoral College votes from each state, count the votes, and announce the winner. NOTHING in the Constitution allows the vice president to change or reject votes as Trump claimed. Also, the Electoral Count Act of 1887 similarly does not grant the vice president the authority to do so.

It seems as though Donald Trump always wants things to go his way and often times ignores the differences between right and wrong, the law, and our country's Constitution. He was partially impeached twice, failed to turn in his taxes as presidents are required to do, encouraged the January 6th fiasco, took papers from the White House... He refuses subpoenas, requests for records, etc. Trump believes that he is above the law of the land. Many Americans believe he is a liar, a crook, a racist, and a narcissist. I tend to agree.

The best thing Trump ever did was the "Wall." It's a shame it wasn't finished. It is creating a huge crisis for this country!! If Mike Pence was portrayed as a "traitor" by Trump, then he wouldn't have to worry about Pence running for president in 2024. Trump was close with Governor DeSantis of Florida when he was in the White House. Now Trump sees him as a possible 2024 rival, and he dismisses him saying, "I made him what he is today." I don't see any likeness what-so-ever between the two men.

America does NOT need a Biden-Trump 2!!!

GB November 7, 2022, 6:22 pm Trump had some great policies both domestic and foreign. He also had a horrible tendency to say anything. Yet People need to be less concerned about a rich man who runs for president and wins and very concerned about a person who obtains their wealthy status while in office..
Personally I would like to see DeSantis in the Whitehouse after we put our current old decrepit donkey out to pasture along with his liberal friends.

DL November 8, 2022, 2:21 pm There's no such thing as "partial" impeachment. Our Constitution gives the sole right to impeach, to The House of Representatives of The United States of America. If a president (or anyone else) IS impeached, our Constitution then gives the power to the Senate, to decide if the impeached person deserves to be removed from office. Those are two separate processes. Donald Trump is a disgraced, twice impeached, former president.

RB November 8, 2022, 3:08 pm Pence is not a traitor but Trump is. I shake my head that Republicans won't call him out. It's not about qualifications or character it's about power. Look no farther than Hershel Walker in Georgia!

GB November 9, 2022, 4:31 pm It was two sham impeachment hearings by a bunch on left wing nut bags. Just like the sham Russian Collusion that turned out to be another Clinton stunt. What about the Biden- China Collusion? There is far more "real" evidence to support that and yet the left remains silent..
