In response to the letter by Tami Stark:
Many times the issue of gay marriage is clouded by the emotions involved in it. Many Iowans, simply want to be able to say, THIS is what marriage is...between one man and one woman. It used to just be understood, that's what it was. I don't know in Utah if they have the same issues, defining that it is NOT between one man and a handful of wives...I would be just as opposed to that as I am to 2 women or 2 men being married. Suppose we accept that as well, who are we to judge the Mormons? As for prayer in the schools, it's acceptable on 9/11 and maybe the 12th and 13th, but after that, we forget God. Separation of church and state, I just love this topic. It clearly says that, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." so...in today's English...Congress can't make any laws about a church or how they practice. It says NOTHING about taking prayer out of school, the 10 commandments out of the government buildings or anything else. It just says, Government can't do a thing about churches! Gun control, that one I don't care one way or the other really, I just prefer that if you have one, you are sane. "Government violation of our Civil Liberties" that one I'm not sure what you are talking about. As for the Bible and where it says to judge, oh I don't know, I know that we have those pesky 10 commandments, that seem to be acceptable by most people today...don't kill, don't steal, and we even have laws on those two...can't remember the rest...But that's my 2 cents on it all.
